There are big changes happening over at the country's largest automaker: Toyota.
In a press event today in BGC, Toyota Motors Philippines (TMP) executives announced some major changes, results of the past year, as well as investments for the coming year.
First, the president of Toyota Motor Philippines Mr. Satoru Suzuki will be moving on to a new post after a second stint in the country with Toyota. Suzuki will be leading a Toyota subsidiary that will focus on consumer behavior concerning major Toyota markets, one of which is the Philippines. Currently, the Philippine market ranks 9th worldwide for the company in terms of volume.
Toyota hasn't officially announced Suzuki's successor, but they did say that the next TMP president will come from Toyota Motor Asia Pacific.
THE Philippine electric-vehicle industry is in talks with Chinese battery makers to set up shop in the Philippines due to the potential of the electric vehicle market here, an industry official said.
“Since last year, we’ve been talking to a lot of Chinese manufacturers of batteries — lithium-ion batteries. They’re really interested to locate here in the Philippines because they see that there’s a good market for electric vehicles from what they’ve seen, from what they’ve experienced in the last several years,” said Ferdinand I. Raquelsantos, chairman emeritus of the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP), in an interview last week.
He said he and other industry officials have held talks with members of the Power Battery Application Branch of the China Industrial Association of Power Sources for possible partnerships.
Nokia today announced the Nokia 2.3, the company's latest budget Android One smartphone. The Nokia 2.3 will be going on sale today and is priced at €109.
The Nokia 2.3 has a simple, no-nonsense design made out of polymer. The front of the device has a notched 6.2-inch, 720p display with some fairly sizable bezels. On the side the phone features a dedicated button for Google Assistant. The back of the phone has a 3D nano-textured cover with a ribbed pattern for additional grip. The phone will be available in three colors, Cyan Green, Sand, and Charcoal.
The Nokia 2.3 runs on the MediaTek Helio A22 chipset with 2GB of memory and 32GB of expandable storage. It features dual SIM, Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 5.0, microUSB, FM radio and headphone jack.
